Signal Handling
A quick analysis of the signal will determine whether or not a kiss-off response should be sent
back to the calling IP device and alarm panel.
If the signal is good, it will be written to the IP Suite database for safe keeping and a kiss-off
response will be sent back to the IP device and alarm panel. If the signal is not good, or it is a
duplicate it will be ignored and a message will be written into the system log on the server.
The Virtual Receiver also receives heartbeats from remote adapters and writes them to the IP
Suite database, which is constantly checked by the Heartbeat Engine for line supervision purposes.
Responses are sent back to the remote adapters so that they know whether or not the server is
available.
When a Linksys device receives a valid response to its heartbeats, it displays as Registered on
the Info tab in the device web interface. This provides a client side visual indication that there
is good communication with the server. It also confirms that the Virtual Receiver is able to traverse
NAT in the client side router and that port forwarding will not be required in order for the alarm
panel to successfully receive kiss-offs.
The Virtual Receiver is able to detect and log whether or not a kiss-off successfully reached the
alarm panel as the Linksys client device sends an acknowledgement of the kiss-off to the server.
