Heartbeat Engine

Each remote IP adapter is programmed to send a heartbeat signal at an agreed interval. The Heartbeat Engine expects each remote adapter to send heartbeats within a time interval specified in each individual Client record within the IP Suite database.

If a Client adapter does not contact the server within the designated client heartbeat interval, the Heartbeat Engine generates and sends a Contact ID event 356 "Loss of central polling" or other event of your choice to your automation software.

Restore of Central Polling

When the next heartbeat arrives for an overdue Client adapter, a Restore is sent to the automation software. This heartbeat mechanism provides for each Client adapter to have a fully supervised connection to the Monitoring Center, thus allowing an operator to act accordingly upon network failure or line cut.
