Troubleshooting the Provisioning Process

If your equipment fails to provision correctly, it will almost certainly be down to a firmware incompatibility with our provisioning server. If you are not able to update your firmware to the latest version for any reason, there is a box to tick during provisioning that lets the server know you are using firmware prior to version 5. If you tick the box, the provisioning server will download settings into your device using a different method that is compatible with older Linksys firmware.

After you click on the Provision button and wait for 30 seconds or so for your adapter to download the custom settings, if you click on the CLICK HERE link and it takes you into the web interface of the Linksys device, then you know that provisioning has failed. Log in and try again, this time ticking the older firmware box.

Firewalls can get in the way of firmware upgrades and provisioning. If you are unable to upgrade your firmware to the very latest version, you may need to do the upgrades in incremental steps by first upgrading to any versions in between your current version and the latest version. On VoIP equipment with an inbuilt router (SPA2102 & 3102 in particular), you may have to connect your computer directly into the LAN port of the Linksys device in order to perform the firmware upgrade succesfully.
